Dental Exams & Professional Cleanings

Bi-annual dental checkups and cleanings are essential to maintaining healthy teeth and gums. During these visits, we will complete a thorough examination of your smile, take X-rays, and clear away all plaque and tartar from the surface of your teeth. If any concerns are spotted, we will let you know what treatments we recommend moving forward.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns add an extra layer of protection to teeth that have been damaged or their structural integrity compromised. These can be made from durable metals or metal-free options that are able to flawlessly blend in with your surrounding teeth. Once cemented to your tooth, they can help you maintain that natural tooth for years to come!

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are one of the most common restorative treatments that we offer, so if you hear that you need one, there’s no need to be alarmed. These are designed to repair damage caused by cavities and seal off your tooth to prevent the decay from progressing. We use tooth-colored composite resin to fill teeth, allowing for more natural-looking results.

Root Canals

If you have a toothache that simply won’t go away, you may have a tooth infection. Root canal treatment prevents the infection from progressing and erases associated pain by removing the infected pulp located within a tooth. We’ll then top the treated tooth off with a dental crown for lasting protection and added strength.

Tooth Extraction

When teeth are damaged beyond repair, we may recommend a tooth extraction. We’ll gently remove the tooth from its socket to prevent any further damage to surrounding teeth or make room in your mouth for orthodontic treatment. If needed, we can simultaneously create a treatment plan to restore any teeth that we need to remove.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth typically grow in between the ages of 16 and 25 and are the last teeth to erupt. Unfortunately, for many patients, they can pose a threat to oral health by increasing the risk of decay, gum disease, or other oral health concerns. When this is the case, Dr. Adkins may recommend removing your wisdom teeth, which our team can do in-house.

Bone Grafts

Bone grafting can be necessary to prevent jawbone erosion after a tooth has been extracted, or restore jawbone density to prepare for treatments like dental implants. It’s a minor oral surgery procedure that we can complete in-house, using either natural or synthetic bone grafting material to improve your candidacy for procedures and maintain good dental health.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are excellent for both children and adults, helping prevent cavities from developing and improve the effectiveness of brushing. They’re clear protective coverings that are brushed onto the molars and hardened, preventing food debris and plaque from building up in their crevices, leading to decay. The best part is that they will continue protecting your teeth for years to come, or in the case of children, until their baby teeth fall out!

Periodontal Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and root planing, also known as deep cleanings, is typically recommended for patients with gum disease. By clearing away all plaque and tartar accumulation, as well as bacteria deposits on the roots of the teeth, we can keep the infection from spreading and leading to escalating dental problems such as tooth loss.

Laser Periodontal Therapy

We can also utilize our dental laser during your gum disease treatment to kill harmful oral bacteria, remove severely damaged gum tissue (only leaving healthy tissue behind), and give your smile a little extra support in fighting off the infection. The laser is gentle, and because it cauterizes the area, it means less post-operative bleeding and a faster recovery period.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride is a naturally derived mineral that’s found throughout nature; however, it’s also used to help strengthen teeth by repairing enamel, which is their outermost layer. When applied at the end of your routine cleanings, fluoride can help prevent cavities from developing between visits to the dentist.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are designed to replace between one and four missing teeth in a row. They are anchored onto the existing teeth using dental crowns, holding free-standing replacement teeth that are custom-designed to look like a natural part of your smile, securely in place. Bridges can last for years and help prevent dental drift.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding utilizes composite resin material to restore or enhance the appearance of teeth, all in the matter of a single appointment. The putty is custom-shaded to match the surrounding teeth and sculpted to lengthen, brighten, or make the tooth whole again. After the putty is hardened, it is able to function as a natural part of your smile for years to come.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Clenching and grinding your teeth when you sleep, also known as bruxism, is a common condition that can be brought on by stress, bite problems, and other underlying concerns. To prevent any harm from coming to your teeth and jaw joints, we can craft a nightguard for you to wear, providing a layer of protection between them.

TMJ Treatment

If you experience chronic jaw discomfort, lockjaw, clicking or popping whenever you open and close your mouth, or frequent headaches, you may have TMJ disorder. Dr. Adkins can diagnose your issue and provide you with tailored treatment options, such as equilibration or an occlusal splint, to prevent your condition from worsening and ease your symptoms.
