We are in unprecedented times that have changed some of our operating procedures, so we all stay safe. When the Governor Polis lifted the ‘Shelter in Place’ order dental offices were issued reopening guidance from Colorado Public Health, The Colorado Dental Association (CDA) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC)
To protect you our patient, and our staff Adkins Family Dental implemented these guidelines and took some extra precautions as well.
Arrival and Waiting Room
For social distancing purposes we want only one person in our waiting room at a time. Upon arrival patients call the front desk from their car and then wait in their car until our front desk informs them that they can come in and complete some paperwork.
Quick Paperwork
All patients fill out a questionnaire that screens for COVID symptoms including activities that may have exposed them to COVID, such as traveling, being in contact with other exposed individuals, etc. All front desk, clipboards and pens are sanitized after every patient.
Checking More Than Your Temperature
All patients receive a temperature check. In addition, we will perform a pulse oximeter measurement (a test used to measure the oxygen level). We do the pulse oximeter measurement because preliminary studies show that asymptomatic carriers can display a lowered pulse ox reading despite showing no symptoms, which allows us to screen patients better.
Optional Pre-Operative Rinse
Patients have the option of a pre-operative rinse to decrease bacterial and viral loads within their mouth prior to any procedure.
Special Patient Accommodations
Patients have the option of a pre-operative rinse to decrease bacterial and viral loads within their mouth prior to any procedure.

Staff Are Dressed for Safety
You will notice all staff members wearing masks at our Wheat Ridge dental office, even when not treating patients. And, to further decrease the risk of exposure between staff, they eat lunch in their cars.
Your Treatment: We Dress For Safety
Your treatment staff will greet you wearing isolation gowns, face shields, N95 or KN95 respirators, a level 2 or greater surgical mask, eye protection and hair coverings.
Between Procedures
Staff members wait 15-minutes following procedures to allow aerosols to settle before performing sanitation procedures in operatories.
